I just listened to your Podcast. I would like to leave one comment. The Warhammer rules should be written in a clear and consistent manner that should leave no room for ambiguity or misunderstanding. Any rules that do not fit this description should be errata immediately. Warhammer is a game that is supposed to be fun, and it is not fun to argue about rules. This would make for a better competitive play as well as garage play. The only reason that Games workshop does not do this is because that actually incapable of doing it.

Too much work Jaybo. Plus the show has no real fixed format that can be broken up so easily. We are tourny gamers – that is the prism through which we see the game, can’t change that mate.

But the main reason is the collossal ammount of time it would take to chop it all up and put tracks in.

I’m going to have to disagree about “Gay as AIDS”, I think it really adds to the show! For me, Podhammer has always been a show that reminds me of sitting around with good friends and shooting the shit. And that image would be shattered if people started trying to censor themselves and allowing political correctness to dictate what they feel they can say.

Podhammer is like fresh unfiltered spring water, in a world full of boiled and sterilized water. Sure you are 100% sure the boiled water is safe, but it just tastes all wrong.

Keep up the unfiltered goodness Podhammer! To do otherwise would be, to quote Warhammer Jesus, “as gay as AIDS”.

Note that you guys were wrong about the D6 charge thing not in any other games system. It has been in GW’s own LOTR game for quite some time, and apparently those guys have been happy with it.

I’m not super excited about it, but it does level the playing field between the books some. Right now certain armies are almost always going to get the charge in, now you just can’t be certain. I think it works fine in the context of striking in I order on the charge, and also you have to tactically prepare yourself more for adversity if you don’t make all your charges.

I remember the build up to the 5th ed 40k rulebook… a lot of looking at rules in isolation and moaning at how they’re going to kill the game. When it came out, it was the best edition of 40k yet.

I’ve got a lot of faith in 8th edition, it’s just a shame GW don’t seem to put anywhere near as much effort into the armybooks/codices. It’s badly balanced books that have been the problem.

I dont understand why you count dragon ogres as a “soft target”
right now my 2500 point army uses 3 units of 4 dragon ogres with great weapons.
it works AMAZING!!

they make it to the other side turn two, and the hit hard, and have 4 wounds. pound for pound are better then knights IMHO other then they cant be marked.

Good show. Ken should have known the crown of stupid would bite him in the ass. It’s massive risk for vamps when it’s on the primary caster. I’ve tested a similar ETC vamp list (minus crown) and it’s quite efficient.
Jeff, nice job with the DoW. Nothing like good dragon mojo to pull you through.

I know of audacity – its where it all started for me. It doesnt have enough editing features that I need to produce the quality that we put out.

I plan on using audacity for the moment to record on the mac and then chuck it on a USB and edit it in soundforge on my PC. – For now

Sorry for the triple post – can’t edit my old ones , But if apple sais ‘no’ for some reason, you might want to look at Audacity. It’s a free 16 track audio recording and editing software for Mac. It’s not as in depth as Soundtrack Pro, but it may get you by.

If nothing else you can try it out to see how you like it. Free is Free afterall .

Yes, Soundtrack is a part of the Final Cut studio. However, you can purchase it separately as well either at a local Mac retailer or from Apple’s website. I believe the cost is roughly around $200-250.

Great show as always! If you are still looking for a program for your Mac to do your podcast, have a look at Soundtrack Pro. I use it everyday at work for audio recording and you can do really amazing things with it fairly easily. It’s probably one of the best in the business for getting rid of background noise as well as pops and clicks.

Guys another good podcast – and that rankinghq site looks good starting to think everything andrew galea touches turns to GOLD.

One thing – not a lot of mention of primal fury. I reckon thats a good rule that means the beastmen hit pretty hard (potentially hatred each round and in range of the general that should be the case) and even though most of its low strength (and they could miss out on hatred) I dont think that should be discounted.

Shame about the centigors otherwise!

So I just came form my local gaming establishment after going over the store copy of Beastmen. First, let me say that I love what they did with them. Now they are more their own race and not just another bit of Chaos flotsam, using chaos magic or beast magic. In fact, their abilities and spells seem to center around an animalistic fury. I also love the Traitor-Kin spell. We’ve been saying that they should have a spell like that forever.
Here’s my problem, though. Three new rare choice monsters that seem like they’d be so much fun to play and there are NO MODELS FOR THEM. I’m sick of GW telling me to be creative and make up my own stuff. I hate being forced to buy two or three other model kits and combine them into something else. It’s expensive, and I could be spending that money on other units for the army.
C’mon GW, it’s not like you didn’t know you were going to have this unit in the book, so how about a model for it?

Hey, wanted to point out that the Hexacon’s got it’s uses. It’s a near-dispel scroll, but it doesn’t take up an Arcane Item slot, so it helps you stack your bounds on your casters.

Guys, He’s not trying to insult you. Lol these comments have to be jokes. If you listen to a Warhammer Podcast, you ARE a NERD. Period. Jeff is calling himself a nerd by implication since he creates the content that he’s calling you a nerd for listening to. Its clearly not a serious insult, but a fun bit of banter between ppl with common interests. If anything its a term of endearment.

Also, Jeff, I think you’re doing a great job and the content is better than ever, I personally like the little bits of non-warhammer content as it breaks up the monotony that can happen when only tournament results and statistics are discussed at the exception of all else. PodHammer strikes a really nice balance. Thanks for the effort for everybody contributing to PodHammer.

And thanks for the mention way back when about the PodHammer dice and me wanting to cheat for LD tests haha.

I don’t know, ‘professionalism’ can be displayed in many ways. Like using correct spelling and punctuation, for instance.

But at the end of the day, this is a free podcast, so to expect a ‘professional’ discussion is perhaps a bit much. I’m also fairly sure that there are multiple warnings on the website warning listeners/surfers not to take Podhammer too seriously, as well as indicating the presence of profanity, etc. I enjoy the podcast – not least because it’s from Australia and it’s free – and I find it’s fine to listen to as I paint or ride on a train, whatever. The ‘nerd’ insults bounce off me because I’m married, have many friends that aren’t hobbyists, and generally try to keep my hobby, much as I love it, just that – a hobby. If pretty harmless labels are really bothering people and hitting close to home, then perhaps they are better off listening to something a little more ‘serious’. Personally, I prefer not to let my hobby get to ‘serious’ – otherwise where’s the fun in it??

I agree with Joel the standard of Podhammer pales in comparison to other warhammer podcast right now, Im ok with being called a nerd but im getting a bit sick of it over and over.

Last few podcasts i haven’t really listened to all the way through and i wouldn’t really recommend it, It just seems that this podcast seems like a money making scheme $25 a person for extra content that is not worth the money anyway.

Please improve the podcast or ill simply forget to listen.

You can call me names on the show if you want but that would show your inadequacy of professionalism im used to on other podcasts.

To Netter.
I thank you for your response, I clearly see your point, it’s just that I am not inclined to agree. I differentiate between the chat beween friends and the broadcast to an anonymous crowd such as that of a podcasts or radio.
In this case I see civil language as a way to show what level of professionalism you want to put yourself at.
Still, I am well aware that alot of people think differently.

Are you even aware that “nerd” is considered an insult in a major part of the world? Getting abit tired of you debasing your audience.

Listeners must love getting insulted. Well I sure don’t. Not that I get provoked really, just that I will as many others, go to podcasts were they are abit more civil instead. Competition is fierce, please fight abit to keep you listeners.

But don’t take this the wrong way. The ONLY reasons I type these comments are purely selfish ones; I want a “podhammer” that is streamlined to my preferences, since I like listening to warhammer podcasts.

Looks like a bad guy in a mid-90s video game. Don’t know why.

Good early review of the rats. One thing I thought was overlooked, warp firethrowers will be the weapon team of choice in 7th edition S5, D3 wounds and hits everyone touched by the template!!!! This will takeover where the rattling gun finished.
