Jeff – re: Ranga Obama show (Ep 35)
Firstly, G’day to you and the Newie Boys.
I’ve been lurking for a few episodes now.
Being an Aussie in fuck-me freezing Canada for the past 4 years, always good to hear Aussie humour talking one of my favourite hobbies.
Anyway, one of your podhammer minions commented that he only considers important countries are those that play Rugby and thus he wrote off America.
Quick tidbit – Rugby was big in the US in the early 1900′s. Infact they won the last Olympic Gold for Rugby (1924 – after that some fucktard removed it from the Olympic Games).
Sadly the investment $$ in sports left Rugby after the Olympics dropped the sport. However it is on a bit of a resurgence – I can even talk Rugby with some American friends and one is even an A grade referee in New York.
So, consider your minion ed-u-mick-ated.
And yeah I need a life to spend this amount of time replying to his offhanded comment. Then again we all play with little toy soliders, so meh.
Keep up the good work.
As a suggestion, how about a glimpse in the mind of a Top General?
Have you considered teeing up with the Masters rankings and inviting/skyping the Top Generals in OZ/NZ and have them chat about pros, cons, tips and tricks of the army (armies) they are considered the Best General at? Nice little segment to add to the show.
Cheers,
Dru
G’day, me again.
2nd comment re: podcast ep35: ranga obama.
One of your guests (I think the guy who crashed the podcast and shared a mic) is new and starting a DE army.
He mentioned his BSB with Banner of Nagarythe joining another unit. I dont think he can. The banner makes him unbreakable, which then means he cannot join a unit that is not unbreakable. (Found in Psychology – Unbreakable under Characters, first paragraph of the little rulebook on page 79).
So the BSB would have to run around on his own with that banner. It’s a mobile +1 CR effect and makes him unbreakable (definately consider a mount in that case) but because we have no unbreakable units in our DE book, I dont think it’s worth it – too hard to protect him.
I was just thinking about Dave’s comments about weapon skill when talking about chosen.
With the mark of Nurgle on chosen alot of basic troops will be hitting them on 5′s in combat so surely the weapon skill 6 is a good thing if you give them that mark? Because most troops are weapon skill 4 right?
Yeah but WS4 with MoN reduces them to WS3 which is *still* 4+ to hit. That was his point, you have to be **MORE** than double the WS to move to 5+.
So WS3 troops would drop to WS2 and thus be 5+ to hit, but all those plentiful WS4 would not.
If it was double the WS rather than more than double the WS, it would be a lot better.
In regards to the Unbreakable BSB comment above, the wording of the banner itself in the army book indicates that the unit that contains the banner becomes unbreakable. I would say that this rule would supersede the rule quoted from the Rules book as it is clear that this is what is intended.
I don’t think anyone would pay 125pts (plus BSB cost of course) for a single unbreakable BSB that can’t join any units, so I think it is not unreasonable to allow a BSB with this banner to join any unit he is able (based on Khainite or not) and confer the Unbreakable ability on them.
RE: Banner. Went for a look and found a big debate about it on The Warhammer Forums. Seems it’s not so clear cut.
