Here’s the thing Jeff. I love your show and am a big fan. I haven’t subscribed to the Inner Circle yet but will anyday. I am aware it costs you money and time to run this show and I greatly appreciate it. Your show has a sense of purity to it because you are genuine fans of Warhammer and aren’t in it for the money I think.
But you know what I understand where Cedric is coming from man. You say that the money is going towards equipment and related shit (which I believe you) but then on the last few episodes (ones where you’re advertising Inner Circle)you kind of make smarmy comments on how you and Dave will be using the money to buy miniatures. I can see how that would piss off a few people and turn them off from joining the Inner Circle. The way you guys come off it seems like where getting suckered on joining up.
Hope that might help, and keep doing a good job, but please lay off the contradictory tones when you advertise IC.
Good Work Jeff.
The way you slaughtered that faggy Cedric was pure gold. I totally agree with the sentiment that you AREN’T doing this as a job and that you do need the money for the equipment. I for one will be joining the Inner Circle, just as soon as my PayPal starts to work the way it should.
Great Episode Jeff, Dave and Micheal. Congratz to Matty, good luck with Orktoberfest.
Nathan.
Once again very insightful podcast guys.
I was wondering though if sometime in the near future will you be discussing anything related to Mordheim for I believe, just like fantasy is a great game and would love some insight on what you guys think of it and its addition to Fantasy.
Cheers.
P.S I’m 100% on what you believe Jeff about that ignoramous. When I read what he wrote I just thought to my self what truely is his problem.
I mean its optional to watch inner circle not compulsory.
Hey Jeff. I am a big fan of your show to. I have listened to all the shows so far and I find them all great.
The thing is that you shouldn’t have answered this way to him man. We all know that you are right. Podhammer is an one man show. You give everything and in return you get nothing back.
Well at least you deserve some respect for doing all this.
But when you are right you shouldnt lose your cool man because when you do, you lose all the right you had in the first place.
Cheers man
Jeff can run his show any damned way he wants. Jeff is providing a quality service that incurs costs. If he wants or needs to recoup that cost, what’s it to us? In fact, if he wants to charge $2 Million for every word uttered… it’s no one’s business but his. And if he wants to spend 100% of it on miniatures… what’s it to us? The only decision we need to make is whether or not the service is worth the cost. If not, don’t consume the service. Simple.
That whole prissy sense of entitlement is very annoying, and I understand Jeff’s anger. (Though he should not have divulged the e-mail address; that’s private information.)
You know, I totally disagree. Jeff still does the regular Podhammer shows every two weeks or so. They’re still of exactly the same quality (arguably better, since he’s now using better kit). If you fundamentally disagree with paying for content (which, in my opinion, makes you a cheap ass) then don’t. But don’t whine when someone provides a service (Inner Circle) and then asks you to pay for it.
Also, why does it bother you what they spend the money on? You pay for the service, and he provides it. We don’t stipulate what anyone else has to do with their earnings, so why should it matter what Jeff and Dave do??
Here’s my two cents.
The boys put on an interesting show (I dont even play warhammer and I cant stop listening to it) for free for everyone, and people have the audacity to complain becasue they dont want to pay for something they might be interested it. Why cant they put on an exclusive service to try and get something back?
Fuck people on the internet are so fucking cheap… It’s only 15 dollars you cheap fuckers.
The internet is full of free shit, pirated music and software which in turn pushes up the prices for the honest consumers.
Who cares what they spend it on?
If people want to pay to listen to exclusive content, that’s awesome. If you dont just stop complaining you cheap fuck.
More power to ya guys, and keep up the awesome work… Has anyone played Warhammer Online yet? It’s fucking epic.
Would be someone from Belgium!
I haven’t subscribed to IK, but still think Podhammer is amazing. I totally understand why Captain Jeff would want to make a little back on his investment.
Rock on you shiney diamond!
How could someone afford to play warhammer, but not be willing to pay 15 bucks for a whole year? With how much 40K they’ve been loading into White Dwarf, I’ve found I spend about 10 minutes flipping through it. You’ve already more than justified the cost if you already have 2 hours of content up there. I’ll be joining up soon. Keep up the good work Jeff and the rest, and don’t let the little cocksuckers get you down.
Podhammer still offers plenty of free content. This is time that Jeff and the crew could be doing something for themselves. I’m sure they enjoy doing it, but that doesn’t take away from the effort they put in.
If Jeff asked the fan base if they wanted to pay a very tiny amount of money per year for some extra content, I’m sure most of community would of (and has) responded positively. Being a big fan of the show I enjoy supporting Podhammer in anyway I can.
Being a member of the Inner Circle this will seem biased I’m sure. However I think my point is valid. You can still listen to the podcast and not contribute in anyway, or you can support something that has given you hours of entertainment.
Buy what ever you want with my $15 ^_-
$15 is such a small amount of money for what we get, it’s rediculous. Kids shouldn’t be listening to the show anyway
I agree with James that Jeff is entitled to make a profit from finding his niche in podcasting and that what he does with his dough is his business. However I also agree with slim that sometimes the adds for IC come across as smarmy. I particullarly agree with the part where Slim said he feels like he is getting “suckered on joining up”. Jeff has a quality product and should be able to make money off of it, I just think he should promote it in a better fashion, as opposed to sounding like a sleezy car salesman.
P.S. LOVE the show !!!
As the saying goes thier is no such thing as free since someone always has to pay. I can totally agree with anyone wanting to make money of thier own work. After all this is why we all have jobs, however I can likewise see the whole sell out arguement. While I could never see myself paying for podcast of anysort, I do wish you the best of luck with the inner circle. I will not be listening to further episodes since the level of profane language has risen beyond what I am willing to tolerate.
Thanks for all the episodes of enjoyment none the less.
i dont understand, whos cadric? has his post been deleted cos of flame? im a real big fan of this podcast. i agree with slim, you have these convos that slip in that sound like your using IC money for your own hobby, and that has really put me off donating. i hope jeff is joking.
yes $15 is not much but i would rather support my own hobby than someone elses.
If Cedric hadn’t been such an A$$ in his email to Jeff, then maybe I’d have respected his opinion, even if still disagreeing with it. But wow, what an A$$.
But more to the point:
1. Podhammer is free. So no one can have any issue with what it provides or doesn’t provide. You get what you pay for in this world, and if you get something for free, then be grateful! Don’t complain how you’d want even more for free, or bemoan the people who do get more because they *are* paying for more! To do so just makes one look like a very spoiled child.
2. Inner Circle doesn’t appear to have pulled content away from basic Podhammer, just added more for the people that want to support the show. Think of it like Public Television (do you have that in Oz?) where the shows are free, and if you want to give them money (enough to buy yourself a small vacation) they’ll throw in a mug or CD… in no way are you *buying* that mug. It’s a donation to support something you appreciate & they in turn give you a bit more too.

How could someone afford to play warhammer, but not be willing to pay 15 bucks for a whole year?
SPOT ON
I dont pay but thats because i am like 14 and need booze money etc, but i still think the 2 hour podcast is gr8, im not paying but i still love u guys, Fuck u cedric u dodgy 3yr old fumbling, lifeless cunt-shit!
First of all cedeic you are a tool. Second jeff does podhammer because he has passion for the project. Third he has never said that this was a non for profit org. If he had then you could get pissed where he spent the money.
Jeff has a wife a kid a full time jod. He is very time poor. With the little time he has spare he produces a pod cast and maintains a web site for people that have a fetish all things warhammer related. Try pitching that to your wife. honey can’t do that right now I have to work on a project that delivers no income to the house! Or just let me do this babe it’s now paying for it’s self and soon we might be able to have a big mac on the
profit!
Untill podhammer becomes a public company and he has to shoe the share holders where the money goes show jeff the respect.
Now onto the topics shooting. Very good can you please cover magic next.
On topic about strong armies and tornys. If you play tornys and you give your oppent a shit game by setting up on the table edge or you spend the intire game behind a hill you should get a comp hit plus a sport hit plus a nudge on the table to see if you monster falls and hits the floor.
You just wasted 2 hours of my life and I will send you a bill for my time.

What a fucking ‘ranger girl that Jeff is. Get a fucking life, man.
Hey Jeff and you other aussi guys.
Nice little podcast, although I as usual only find myself teased for more.
I wont comment on the mail of that nagging dude – It seems it has been covered, though I really dig that you still take it so close to heart.
Side note: after listening to all your pod casts – and visiting the aussi WFB forums – I find that you guys really play with soft lists. Im danish, and have never seen a special character used to this day – But I still find that we face a lot of harder lists that you guys put together/play against. Here in scandinavia all tournies use restrictions over comp scores – and of course closed lists.
Though you might not play in the ETC yourselves, I hope that you wont get *proper fucked* as your team probably isn’t as used to the small tricks of the closed list plus maximising under restrictions, as well as abusing them.
Thanks for the great podcast – always a pleasure, i wish I had a none stop feed;) – If it was a radio station going 24/7, I’d definatly tune in.
What Cedric wrote was offensive, no doubt. His mail was insulting and aggressive, however he has a right to his opinion no matter how badly he worded it and how little manners he has.
Jeff, your reaction was a huge disappointment for me, I couldn’t believe how low you let yourself sink just because of some jerk from the internet! I mean, “I hope you get run over by a car, fuck you!”??? I always liked the professional and good natured style of your shows, a style that seems to deteriorate during the last few podcasts. It’s one thing to say FU to one of your co-hosts for dissing your army list, that’s all fine and funny, but when you engage in insult-contests with random silly listeners, you lower yourself way beyond your capabilities and frankly come across as a bully.
Also, giving out this guys email adress and encouraging your listeners to send hate mails is in my opinion immature, bad form and most of all illegal.
Your PM
Keep up the good work jeff, that guy is a born loser.
Anyway, good ep. I get a kick out of Dave most of all.
And I’m glad Jeff mentioned World’s End Radio. They are producing a seriously good show over there. Pure meat.
Well Jeff you’re the one who kept me from shelving my mini’s unpainted and mostly unused when it comes to the game itself.
I do think the Inner Circle is worth and that’s why I’ll be bugging my bro to give up his Paypal account to let me join. (Could you believe a 28year old guy with no Visa???).
So thanks for all the effort you made so far in bringing us pure pleasure through Podhammer.
By the way not everyone from Belgium is an ass as I am the living proof of that (some people will not agree with that though).
Greetz.
You’re all a bunch of little girls.
You can’t take any comments
boohoohoo
“After all this is why we all have jobs, however I can likewise see the whole sell out arguement.”
Selling out is when you sacrifice the spirit or quality of what you are doing in order to make more money. The episodes are still free, and usually quite lengthy. Fifteen for a year is a pittance compared to what we’ll be seeing in terms of content over the year if the current trend continues.
i just gotta say i loved this episode. i like all your episodes, but not censoring anything in this episode made it for me. swearing dave and Co. are right on with just chatting like they do in a normal day and not cleaning it up for the audience. im all for bashing listeners who send hatemail for you trying to get a lil bit of a kickback from this great podcast. the equipment isnt cheap, and heaven forbid you get a lil something out of it.
keep up the good work podhammer!
I’m all about the concept of the inner circle and I plan on subscribing here soon contingent, however, on some minor changes. I’ve been a longtime listener of this podcast since the beginning, and I have to say it is definitely one of my favorites.
That said, I’ve noticed that the show has moved from a very professional, yet rough around the edges podcast, to an extremely lewd one. Do you really need to drop so many F*Bombs? Also, I don’t know what you guys have against homosexuals, but give it a rest, man. You don’t have to agree with the lifestyle, but I’m sure you’re alienating at least some potential Podhammer listeners and WHF players. What’s next, Blacks, Asians? More references to so-called “Eurotrash”?
Further, Jeff, you’re a great guy, and that Cedric guy was a real prick, but you handled the situation poorly. You come off as very childish at times, and this was blatantly evident this episode. God, do you even listen to some of the shit you say before uploading them to Itunes? Grow up, man. You let one jerk ruin your entire week so, for payback, you waste time on your podcast to smear the shit out of him in an extremely immature way. I mean giving his e-mail address so people can send him hate e-mails and subscribe him to porn sites? Wtf?
Get over yourself, man. The people that enjoy your podcast (myself included) outnumber the haters 1,000,000 to 1. Stay positive and keep your focus on the people who appreciate what you do, and don’t waste time on idiots.
Also, I have an issue with the whole “free” argument. It is free. For that most of us are greatful.
However, Podhammer has a REPUTATION to keep in mind, free or not. You want more subscribers, yeah? More subscribers equals more potential “Inner Circle” members, more potential revenue by your sponsors (can’t forget them now, can we?, and all the perks that go with a large listener base (popularity, ratings, etc.). How the hell are you going to get more listeners when your podcast, frankly, can be extremely offensive and childish? What if the first podcast a potential subscriber listened to was this episode and they couldn’t get past the shit talk? Or, what if that episode resulted in numerous people unsubscribing?
In the end, all of the truly successful podcasts have one thing in common: PROFESSIONALISM. One can still have a successful podcast with lewd language, especially when joking around. However, this gossip girl shit (hurt feelings) and homophobia (did you really need to call him a “faggot”?) is really annoying and, you guessed it, unprofessional. This podcast is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The interviews are extremely professional and well thought out. The vast majority of the casual talking and personal updates are great! However, childish lapses like these tarnish the hard work you put into this podcast. Its all about long-term sustainability. In the end, while you may or may not be losing a substantial amount of subscribers, you can guarantee you’re losing a substantial amount of respect.
Jeff I think you guys are awesome. I’ve actually enjoyed the episodes more when you have not censored them. I truly hope you don’t let people’s virgin ears influence your future episodes.
A quick word of advice though. It seems you let people’s critcism really get to you, which is fine I guess, but when you start flipping out on the episodes or comments section it looks bad man. Must be your red headedness
Whether you like or not, due to your hard work and quality episodes people expect things from you now. Podhammer has become an enjoyable part of their gaming lives, they just don’t want to see it turn for the worst.
Cheers!
I don’t care if you charge for your forum or not. If you do it is fair. You aren’t forcing anyone to do anything.
I just wish you guys acted like adults. Telling your readers to spam bomb someone’s email because you don’t like them is really lame. Disagree with him certainly. Tease him, your choice. But in my opinion crucifying him and then telling your listeners to do the same was beneath contempt. I thought you were better than that. I’m disappointed.
The sheer volume of foul language in the last episode has already made me pull it from my kid’s list of allowable things to listen to. I’m an adult who is used to that language but the sheer volume of it really turns me off.
If the anger and infantile stunts continue you will lose another listener too. It has nothing to do with Warhammer which is why we listen. You provide a quality Warhammer podcast except for that. But it is like serving a big steak dinner with piss gravy. It ruins a good thing.
I agree with Slim. Don’t change! Trust your instincts, not concern trolls on the internet.
Dont Change! Thats whats so cool about Podhammer. Its not just about the game – its about the people; and people having a good time as a result of you guys chatting away
I agree with Colin’s well-written comments.
The homophobic comments are offensive and low-brow. Maybe it’s a cultural thing in Australia, but give it a rest already. Seriously, when people make fun of homosexuals THAT much I start wondering which one of them is in the closet and trying to compensate for complex, conflicting, suppressed emotional issues. That’s not a slam on anyone on the show; I’m not trying to knock you down a peg, I seriously wonder what’s going on with the over-abundance of gay jokes. They crop up waaay too frequently. Let’s focus on Warhammer, ok?
Cedric & the IC:
I was *GOING* to join the Inner Circle when the concept was first announced… right up until the point where Jeff and Dave chuckled in the next show about how they were spending the money they’d received so far. It was their attitude that seriously put me off joining up.
As a professional sound mixer I know how the cost of microphones and mixers can add up quickly, so I can get behind a community effort to help keep Podhammer from crushing Jeff’s wallet, but once again, the way Jeff and Dave snickered as they said they were spending the money on resin bases (iirc) was poorly done.
That said, Cedric was COMPLETELY out of line and I sympathize with Jeff’s feelings 100% and my initial reaction was, “hell, with a jerk like that, I’ll join up after all just to spite that guy” and then… Jeff’s tirade happened. I think Jeff being raging pissed was totally valid, but it got completely out of control. That should have been an off-mic conversation with his buddies.
So, I’ve gone from planning to join IC, to not joining, then thinking I’d join up after all in a sort of solidarity against trolls and then thinking… ah, forget it.
I really like Podhammer a lot; been listening since the first episode. I appreciate all the work you put into entertaining the rest of the Warhammer world, but the lack of professionalism lately has been disappointing. Just kick it up a notch; nothing extreme. The 40K Radio guys take it over the top, imho, and I’m SICK of hearing about their damned Freebooter program every 3 minutes.
Putting myself in Jeff’s (and friends) shoes, this would be a difficult thread to read. I hope that all these reactions don’t get you too down on podcasting, but rather, gives you something to really think about for improving the show for the better.
Either way, thanks for all the past shows. Podhammer has helped get me re-interested in WFB and after years in the closet, my O&G army will probably get some table-time soon, in large part due to your efforts with the podcast.
I’m listening to the podcast right now, and I just got to the part where Jeff shares his revelation regarding the Orc Arrer Boyz. Although I realize that “Arrer” is Orc slang for “Arrow”, you can also spin it as “Error” Boyz, as in you’re making an “error” taking Orcs with bows. Get it?
Mark: Eeeerr… I just put 2 units in for my chaos dwarves for the Oz Masters…..
Weird. The listeners are in complete control over whether or not they are offended by the swearing or whatever. Don’t listen, and behold as the problem is magically solved. Complaining about something you control, while expecting Jeff to cater to what *you* may or may not be offended by is silly. And if Jeff gets himself a resin something-or-other in exchange for the time, out-of-pccket money, and effort he expends producing something we use for free… GOOD. We’re lucky he’s doing it at all.
I really enjoyed the show when I first discovered it Lately, though, the show has taken a turn for the worse. Collen and Dan are correct – the key to your success – whether it’s Podhammer or anything else – is professionalism.
To make a small point… By losing your temper on the air, Cedric is in control. He knows that anytime he wants to see you rant, rave, insult people and act less than professional, e.g. “eurotrash”, homosexual insults, etc. he just has to write you another email.
Not only will people shy away from joining the Inner Circle (that is a loss of income to you), it could also put off vendors from sponsoring you (therefore losing more money).
In the end, the only person you hurt was yourself.
Hey guys, hell of a show you got here! Been listening since episode 1 and just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed listening while working on the hobby. Don’t let folks like Cedric get you down Jeff, folks like that wake up with the need to complain about something, and chances are all that bullshit he dishes out is more about him than you or your show. That being said, It may not be my place to say but like some others I was a bit dismayed at your response. Lame as it may be I think that many of us long time listeners feel like friends as well as an audience. As a someone who wants to see you do well for a long time to come, let me only say that when you go off on a rant about someone who, when you think about it is probably a pretty sad bloke, you legitamize his position and give him the attention he’s craving. I worry that by setting this trend every moron who feels like a fight will be contacting the show which only really degrades the shows purpose. This show has always been about good friends enjoying a wonderful hobby and you boys have done a hell of a job. So take a deep breath and continue to kick ass. Cheers Bastards
I heard cedrick is actually dave trying to take the piss out of you, teach him a lesson jeff!
I’ve got to admit, it was funny. And those of us who do podcasts have NO obligation towards professionalism. We are not paid. It is a hobby. Now I may not condone that sort of language in a podcast meant for families, but Jeff and Co. never said this was a family podcast, and in fact, he goes out of his way to put the warning on for more sensitive souls. This podcast is as good as ever, and I don’t even PLAY Warhammer…yet…
So frankly, if you don’t like what a particular podcaster does, move along. Or start your own, and REALLY appreciate what we do. Cheers all.
I agree with Pierce way up there on what thoughts you boys would have on Mordhiem.
For those commenting on the level of professionalism: it’s an either/or situation. When Jeff is interviewing someone not part of the “Newey Boys”, he always acts with professional courtesy. These episodes are good in their own way, and are more densely packed with information.
The other type of episode involves the gang essentially shooting the shit with only a loose agenda of what to cover. Some of the greatest moments of the podcast come from the unscripted stuff. It’s what makes the show.
“This episode contains MILD coarse language”, ahahaha. Good episode, keep up the good work.
Having belatedly heard the “Belgium-gate” episode it seems a strangely appropriate minor accompaniment to the meltdown of world capitalism! I admit feeling disappointed to have heard ugly abuse and hatred on both sides of a legitimate issue (i.e., how to keep an original audience on-board while expanding, cf. Games Workshop in 1991). So unpleasant was the exchange that I will now (very reluctantly) unsubscribe to Podhammer. Professionalism is essential if money is going to be involved in any enterprise. I would not sign up to the InnerCircle (a needlessly exclusive/excluding name btw) because I do not have complete confidence in the product due to its occasional lapses of professionalism. This is not the same as objecting to coarse humour and laddish banter, which I do not find problematic so long as it doesn’t go on too long or go too far. Indeed, the enthusiasm, effort and expertise shown by the presenters and guests on Podhammer are great. But as serious commentators e.g. 37 and 38 show, you need more than this to inspire long-term confidence in a show. For example, after the first few episodes I recommended it to a young nephew – a fact I now seriously regret. Sorry Jeff. I think that in future you would do better to try and control your temper and studio buddies a little more. Thanks for all your previous work however.
I agree that the situation with Cedric was handled badly but the show has been consistantly good since it started.
The lads dont claim to be an authority on Warhammer, they’re a group of lads who like to sit around talking about their hobby.
This is what makes Podhammer the most enjoyable podcast i listen to.
And it IS a podcast,it doesn’t have to be professionally done to make it enjoyable.
Oh man, that was such a funny way to deal with that prick. I’ve been listening to these shows recently, I love both the Warhammer games, both 40k and Fantasy. The shows are great – and they’re free! How can some one complain about a service they get for free? Anyway, I literally laughed out loud when I heard you read out his email!! I bet he shit himself when he heard that lol. I hope his email box is full of crap!
Keep up the great work, Its really nice to hear all the tactics and stuff explained, really has inspired me to restart fantasy instead of just 40k now I remember how tactical it is, and fun, ofc.
