Araby Army Diary - Xbowmen & Knight

After seeing Matt’s awesome progress with his army, I thought it was time to put up a few more pics of my growing Araby(empire) army.
The first image is of 4 more crossbowmen. Since the first test model I have streamlined some of the colour combinations. For example the yellow belts on the original models were done by laying down a layer of Tempest Ochre followed by a chestnut ink, I then reapplied Tempest Ochre followed by Iyanden Darksun. While I will continue this system for heroes and other important models. For the rank and file I have cut out the second layer of Tempest Ochre. This saves valuable time with no real disadvantage in the appearance of the model. I also changed the skin tone to be more middle eastern in appearance. By using Calthan Brown as a basecoat for the skin followed by highlights of Tallarn Flesh I am very happy with the result.
The second pic is of the first of my Inner Circle knights. This is a Sarrasin Camel rider from Black Tree miniatures. The rider is a bit 2-dimensional to remedy this I added the banner to the spear. For other figures in the unit I will add other elements such as trophy racks on the saddles. I plan to use these camels as inner circle with normal horses for regular knights although I havent completely decided. I also realised that I needed to break from my original drab colour scheme by adding the red/orange tassles to the camel and spear.
