Just wanted to comment on how much I appreciated this episode. I’m a still somewhat inexperienced WHFB player (coming from 40k) and just started Ogres over the holidays, coming from playing Dwarfs.
The advice was pretty good, and while my initial lists are pretty different than what was recommended in the show (I run 2 Gorgers), it was good to hear about.
I really like the show, found out about it around episode 6 and now I look forward to it every Tuesday here in the States where it helps get me through the work day.
Thanks
Another sweet episode. Thanks for the review Jeff. After picking up the Ogre book I just got taken by the lore of these nasty mean guys and need to know more. You delivered the goods and I’m very happy with it. You and Matt have a good vibe, makes for a good episode to listen to repeatedly ^_^
Hi Jeff, I just discovered about this podcast and I have some episodes to catch up with, but so far they are really enjoyable.
Ep 10 is very nice, as I play against a friends OK quite much, and this kind of army reviews really make you aware of their pros and cons. Looking out to the next army review!
keep up the good work
Joost,

Thanks for the comments guys, i’m really glad you liked it!!
Cheers,
Matty
I really enjoyed the break down of the ogre kingdoms army.
I have yet to play against the ogres yet. However, our Warhammer Fantasy gaming group has grown rapidly as of late up in Duluth, Minnesota, USA. We now have an ogre player among our 20+ players and I’m looking forward to playing against him. This overview was incredibly valuable to me.
I look forward to other podcasts that break down army books in this manner. If you could do this as often as possible with other army books I would find it invaluable. Particularly how to build strong lists with each book as well as techniques for countering those strengths with other armies.
Keep up the fantastic work.
A big thank you from the far North!
Kris
you also mentioned that a slavegiant is exactly the same as a normal giant but without being stubborn. One of the important weaknessess of a slavegiant is that his attacks against ogre-sized creatures and above is no where near as good because it relies on a toughness test rather than an initiative test which is what the normal giant has. Most big things have low iniative but high toughness so this is an important difference. Really enjoyed the podcast this week. One of the best episodes although I disagreed with a lot of what you said about ogres! Great to have Matt back on the show.
For example, I think maneaters are far too overpriced bearing in mind they are so easy to kill with ranged attacks, and i almost never take them! No where near the best unit in the army in my opinion…ironguts every time!
Still it was a great episode, keep up the good work Jeff.
I’m just starting out with the Ogres, coming over from 40k, and I really liked the show. I just had a quick question for you guys.
On the show, and on a lists I read on Irresistible Force, there were references to using an ogre bruiser BSB with a variety of upgrades like sword of striking, longstrider big name, etc.
But, in the side bar in the Ogre kingdoms book about using a bruiser as the BSB it says that they can’t take any extra weapons, iron fists, magic items or big names.
I’m sure I’m just missing some piece of errata somewhere, but where/what is it?
Thanks a lot, keep up the good work!
Yes thats correct mate, it has been errata’d. Here is a link:

Scroll right down to the bottom.
It is generally accepted that they can take weapons other then ogreclub but this is surely a grey area that needs to be fixed up. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Matty
Thanks a lot! Hope to hear you on the show again soon!
